Axie Community Alpha: Getting Started!

Summary

Download a digital wallet like MetaMask and load it with some ETH. You can acquire ETH from Coinbase, Binance, or LocalCryptos depending on your country.

Download Ronin wallet. THERE IS NO MOBILE WALLET AT THE MOMENT. THERE ARE OFTEN FAKE MOBILE WALLETS UPLOADED TO APP STORES THAT WILL STEAL YOUR AXIES.

Deposit ETH to Ronin using the Ronin bridge.

Acquire at least 3 Axies from the Axie market.

Login with MetaMask here and setup an email/password

Download the application here. Click “Play Now” in the top right.

Welcome To Axie!

Axie Infinity is a digital pet universe where players battle, raise, and trade fantasy creatures called Axies!

This guide will walk you through setting up your digital wallet, buying Axies, and downloading the application.

If you’ve already completed these steps jump to our gameplay and earning guide.

If you haven’t already, make sure to join our Discord to meet the rest of our amazing community!

Getting Started with Blockchain Games

Axie has a fully player owned economy allowing players to seamlessly sell and trade their game assets for digital currency. To enable this, Axie game assets exist as tokens.

In order to store tokens, users must download a digital wallet to play the game. We recommend using MetaMask. Metamask can be used on both desktop and mobile. For mobile users, Trust Wallet can also be used on Android but it does not have a browser on IOS.

Here’s a quick video tutorial!

MetaMask takes around 1 minute to download and set up. Make sure to store your secret 12 word password (private key) in a safe place.

Creating an Axie Account With Ronin Wallet

1. Create Axie Infinity Account

Navigate to Axie Marketplace page, and click on login on the top left of the page.

You’ll be greeted whether to login with MetaMask or email and password, click on login with MetaMask.

MetaMask pop-ups will appear, click Next, Connect and Sign when prompted. This does not cost any ETH.

You now have an Axie Infinity account. Sweet! However we’re not over yet. Now is the time to give yourself a name.

2. Set up Email and Password

In the middle of the dashboard, there is a Set up email and password button. Click on that and fill in your email and password.

You should receive a verification code in your email. Copy and paste the code into the text box and click Confirm.

3. Create Ronin Wallet

Ronin is a side-chain that is built by Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity. This is where Axie activities and transactions take place now. In order to interact with Ronin, you’ll need a Ronin wallet. The Ronin wallet extension can be found here.

On the dashboard you’ll see Wallets section. Under Activate Ronin Wallet, click on Install Ronin Wallet.

This will bring you to Ronin Wallet extension page on the Chrome Webstore. Click Add to your browser.

Once you have it installed, click on the Ronin extension. Then click on Get Started. You might need to find the wallet extension within your installed extensions and I highly recommend to pin it to your browser for quick access.

If you already have a Ronin wallet, you may import the wallet here. If you don’t click on «I’m new. Let’s get set up!»

There will be 3 steps to create a Ronin wallet:

Copying Seed Phrase somewhere safe

Confirm the Seed Phrase

Once you’ve filled up your password for the wallet, click on create wallet.

Next, the Seed Phrase. Reveal the Seed Phrase and write it down. Keep it offline with multiple copies.

Never give or reveal your Seed Phrase to anyone, ever. Not even the Axie Infinity team! If you lose the Seed Phrase, you’ll lose access to your Axie Infinity assets. If someone has your Seed Phrase, they will have total control over your Axie Infinity assets PLEASE KEEP IT SAFE!

Fill the text boxes with the correct word for each position from your Seed Phrase, click continue. And your wallet is created!

You can check your wallet by clicking on Ronin Wallet extension.

4. Attach Ronin Wallet to Account

The final step is to attach your Ronin Wallet it to your Axie Infinity account. Click on «Attach Ronin to Account» under the Activate Ronin Wallet box, in the middle of the Dashboard.

A pop-up will appear, click Confirm.

Acquiring Axies

As of this writing, approximately 140,000 Axies exist in the world. In order to play the game, you’ll need at least 3 Axies.

In order to buy Axies you’ll need to have some of the digital currency Ether (ETH).

There are 2 ways to get your ETH into your Ronin Wallet:

Depositing from an Ethereum wallet to Ronin wallet via the Ronin Bridge. You’ll first need to buy ETH on a cryptocurrency exchange like Binance or Coinbase and then send it to your Ethereum address.

Buying ETH with Fiat on Ronin using Ramp Network. Note that this doesn’t not work in some countries.

Downloading the Application

In order to play the game you’ll need 3 Axies.

Once you have 3 Axies you’re ready to download the application and start playing!

iOS: Please go to https://axieinfinity.com/community-alpha and request an invitation.

For mac0s users: Please follow the instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 and check the «Allow apps downloaded from.» box. Once checked you can attempt to run the hub install and whitelist the app.

After you’ve downloaded the game you’ll be asked to enter the email/password that you’ve added to your account.

You will get an account verification email, if you cannot find it please check your spam folder.

What is Axie land?

Land is an upcoming game mode that will unlock further utility for Axie related game assets.

Lunacia, the Axie homeland, is divided into tokenized plots of land which act as homes and bases of operation for their Axies. Plots can be upgraded over time using a variety of resources and crafting ingredients that can be found when playing the game.

In addition, land-owners might find AXS tokens on their land plots, or use the Axies that occupy the land plot to explore resource nodes on the map. When interacting with resources nodes Axies can find AXS and potentially other resources.

What are Small Love Potions (SLP)?

Small Love Potion (SLP) are an ERC 20 token that are used to breed Axies; they are not the Axie Infinity governance token.

Origin Axies were released during a pre-sale in 2018. They were sold on a bonding curve with each subsequent purchase increasing the price of the next Origin.
