I’ve installed Office 2013 Pro Plus on a new laptop. I’ve setup an email account for Outlook 2013 with all fields completed with incoming port at 993 with SSL and outgoing port 465 with SSL.

I’m still encountering this error 0x800C8101.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

had the same error with Outlook 2013 recently and problem caused by «Your name» field left blank why configuring the account. Intention was to leave the field empty so the mail address is used instead.

So fill the name if the problem appears during account configuration and you are ok.

I guess this error is occurring because of wrong input of incoming and outgoing port numbers. Check your mail account, you have configured in your Outlook and fill in the port numbers accordingly. Because every mail service set different ports for transferring its mails. Therefore you can find out the port numbers from the below given link, which contains the list of incoming and outgoing ports for all email accounts.
