Duolingo for Schools is a dashboard right inside of a teacher’s Duolingo account that allows them to create classrooms and assignments, and to follow students’ activity. We’re excited to work with educators to bring the world’s number one language learning app into classrooms, with features designed to maximize teacher effectiveness and student learning.

Manage classrooms

Get started with Duolingo for Schools by navigating to schools.duolingo.com, signing into your Duolingo account, and creating as many classrooms as you need. You can invite students by sending them email invitations, personalized links, or class codes. You can also create accounts for students, or have them make their own accounts and invite you to track their progress from their account settings. Once you’ve set up your classrooms, you can see who has joined, re-send login information to students who haven’t accepted your invitation, and adjust a variety of classroom settings, from the name of the classroom to the settings that determine what type of content your students are able to engage with.

Create assignments

Duolingo is the world’s most popular language-learning platform and is designed to feel like a game that will keep your students coming back for more. On Duolingo, learners earn XP, or experience points, whenever they do activities, like completing a lesson or reading a Story. Duolingo Skills are colorful circles that cover the vocabulary and grammar relevant to a particular communicative function, like how to order food in the Restaurant Skill. Each skill is made up of multiple lessons, or collections of exercises that target subsets of content. For more information about learning on Duolingo, check out this blog post!

Augment your curriculum by assigning specific Duolingo Skills to your students, or encourage independent learning by creating XP assignments that allow students to interact with any Duolingo material they choose, including features that extend beyond core lesson material, such as Stories. The Curriculum tab shows what Duolingo Skills and words are available in each course and unit, as well as the CEFR level to which the course and unit are aligned.

View student activity

The Students tab provides insights that will help inform instruction, and here you’ll find class- and student-level data on assignment progress and activity completion. You can track how much time each student has spent learning, along with the XP they have earned each week. Individual student data goes deeper to show the number of assignments students have completed on time or late, as well as a feed of all activity they’ve completed.

The student experience

Students who log into Duolingo on the web can access their assignments on the right-hand side of their screens. While the assignment list itself won’t show up for students on the mobile app, all work or activity that they complete on any device will count toward their assignment progress.

Gestiona varios salones de clases

Para empezar a usar Duolingo for Schools, ingresa en schools.duolingo.com, accede a tu cuenta de Duolingo y crea tantos salones de clases como necesites. Puedes invitar a tus estudiantes a través de invitaciones por correo electrónico, enlaces personalizados o con el código del salón de clases. También puedes crear cuentas para tus estudiantes o pedirles que creen sus propias cuentas y que te inviten a seguir su progreso desde la configuración de su cuenta. Puedes asignar unidades específicas de Duolingo a tus estudiantes para potenciar tu currículo o fomentar el aprendizaje individual de tus estudiantes con tareas por EXP, lo que les dará la oportunidad de interactuar con el contenido de Duolingo de su elección, donde se incluye contenido que va más allá de las lecciones básicas, tal como los Cuentos. How do I add students to my Duolingo classroom?

After creating your classroom, follow the instructions:

Give your classroom a name and select a language. If your students are learning different language, you can still create a classroom, but it might not give you course-specific features that a specific language classroom would have access to. It will, however, allow you to track your students’ progress.

From there, you can add students in two ways.

Option #1: Classroom link or Code. This will only work if your students have an email address or facebook account in order to create their own accounts once they see the link. This is ideal for when you can email your students or post the link on a shared document your students can access. This option will also provide you with a classroom code. Your students will click on the link and be taken to Duolingo, where they will be prompted to either log in or create a free Duolingo account. They will also need to allow you to track their progress in order to appear as one of your students.

You can copy the link and share it with your students, or you can ask them to access the website join.duolingo.com and enter the access code (the classroom code is easier to write on the board, for example).

After that, you will be prompted to download instructions for your records explaining to students how they can join the classroom. If you like, you can print this and give it out to your students. The sheet includes instructions and the classroom code. After you download, click «Continue» and you’re done!

Start adding your student’s names and press return or click on «add.» When you are done adding names, press «Continue.»

Now it’s time to add their email addresses! If your students do not have email addresses, leave it blank and select «Create accounts.»

Print the sheet and with the information and you’re all set! Once your students log in, they will be able to change their usernames, emails and passwords at any time in their settings. Let’s start learning!

Изучать иностранный язык можно многими способами. Это индивидуальные занятия с учителем с непосредственным контактом или в онлайн режиме отдаленно, посещение курсов, по самоучителю, с помощью приложений на мобильном устройстве или ПК. Последнее направление в обучении иностранным языкам очень бурно развивается, и это неудивительно – приложения дают большие возможности, ученик затрачивает минимум усилий и средств. Не нужно никуда идти или ехать, тратить деньги на транспорт, учиться можно хоть ранним днем, хоть глубокой ночью. Одно из самых популярных сейчас приложений для изучения языков – Duolingo.

Что такое Duolingo

Duolingo – феноменальное явление в области платформ для изучения иностранных языков: при минимуме сотрудников (на начало 2018 года их чуть больше 50-ти) команда специалистов обеспечивает услугами десятки миллионов пользователей по всему миру! Приложение работает в системе free-to-pay: это значит, что оно бесплатно, но можно подключить дополнительные необязательные функции, которые не отражаются на качестве обучения. То есть можно учить язык «до победного», и не платить ни копейки.

Для русскоязычных потенциальных учеников предлагаются к изучению английский, французский, немецкий, испанский. Пользователям, которые хотят начать учиться на украинском, предлагают пока только английский, но работа по расширению «ассортимента» ведется. Самое раздолье – для англоязычных пользователей: несколько десятков иностранных языков, среди них такие редкие как индонезийский, эсперанто, хинди.

Как зарегистрироваться на Duolingo и начать занятия

Есть три способа начать заниматься по этому сервису:

Выбирать, какой способ лучше – дело пользователя, но по опыту тех, кто оставил отзывы, предпочтительнее последний способ. Он не требует обновлений, не занимает память на ПК или мобильном устройстве (скачанному варианту нужно 2 ГБ), не будет «тормозить»; всего лишь нужен стабильный интернет.

Регистрации как таковой нет: просто заходим на выбор через аккаунт Google или facebook, выбираем родной язык и изучаемый.

Личный кабинет после захода на сайт можно вообще не трогать, если решили учиться без вложения средств. При желании получить приятные «плюшки» заходим в раздел «Duolingo plus» и за смешную сумму имеем возможность отключить рекламу, получать дублирующие задания и напоминания на почту, если сделали большой перерыв.

Тарифы

В самом начале надо выбрать уровень обучения (подробнее в статье про уровни английского языка): для абсолютных новичков рекомендуется легкий, если есть начальные знания – обычный (

Intermediate), «продвинутый» уровень называется «безумный», но это не предел, можно выбрать и выше. Если уровень выбран слишком легкий или оказался не по силам, его можно поменять в настройках.

Выбор цели

Обучение происходит в виде уроков, в которых задания даются в письменном и аудио виде. Письменные задания могут содержать перевод на изучаемый язык или на родной с иностранного. Аудио задания прослушиваются (необходимы наушники или колонки), потом предлагают:

Если есть трудность с восприятием на слух, то можно включить медленный повтор – нажимаем на значок в виде черепашки, и тогда предложение или фразу натурально «разжуют» очень медленно и четко.

Давая ответы на вопросы, мы нажимаем «далее», если ответ правильный, то переходим к следующему заданию, если нет – на экране внизу появится правильный ответ, и можно переходить к следующему шагу.

По окончании урока предлагается закрепить его и пройти тест: по тому же принципу (чередование письменных и аудио вариантов) даются ответы на 10 вопросов, после их выполнения присваивают статус в зависимости от успехов.

Если обучение идет в хорошем темпе, мало ошибок, занятия идут каждый день, но приложение выдает призы в виде линготов. Лингот – виртуальная валюта сервиса, за нее можно расширить обучение: приобрести дополнительные упражнения, ускорить темп учебы и тд.

Выбор упражнений на Duolingo ведется по принципу «дерева»: можно постепенно идти от простого к сложному, или сразу «перепрыгнуть» в тематический раздел, начать углубленно изучать грамматику. Но система не даст продолжить учебу, если тест в конце урока содержит ошибки: вам вежливо предложат вернуться обратно и дойти до выбранной темы постепенно.

Можно сдать мини-экзамен и «перепрыгнуть» сразу через 8 уровней. Этот текст зачтется, если не будет ни одной ошибки! При наличии хотя бы одной ошибки ученика информируют, что тест не пройден и обучение будет идти по стандартному плану.

Если пригласить друзей с facebook, можно учиться и соревноваться одновременно, за лидерство раздаются дополнительно линготы. Кстати, ими можно делиться: если линготов накопилось много, есть возможность послать их на любой аккаунт. На форуме Duolingo есть раздел, где предлагают поделиться линготами.

Duolingo не только дает возможность учиться индивидуально. Есть дополнительный функционал для учителей, где формируется класс, можно сказать методические материалы. Воспользоваться сервисом для педагогов можно бесплатно (стандартный набор) и платно (расширенные возможности).

За 50 у.е Duolingo дает возможность сдать тест и получить сертификат о степени владения иностранным языком. Это, конечно, не международный экзамен, но тоже будет полезно.

Достоинства Duolingo

Недостатков у Duolingo практически нет, разве что пока скудный выбор для русскоязычных пользователей и для тех, кто хочет учиться на украинском.

Доброе утро. Занималась несколько месяцев. Прошла 5 уровней. А сейчас программа открывается и пустая. Все корзинки исчезли. Сбой программы? Или я что то сделала не так? Закачать по новой? Жаль времени. Ответьте.
