Atomic Warfare is a comprehensive modlist that focuses on improving over the Vanilla Fallout 4 with better mechanics, additional content to explore, and an overall immersive experience. With a small modlist, and an easy-to-use list, any modder can use this modlist without worrying as much about messing something up.

Within this mod guide, here’s a generalized feature list of what to expect when using this guide.

This guide will contain abbreviations for various things, and you will need to read this to better understand what they mean, and should most certainly pay attention to them.

This guide is heavily based around MO2 users, specifically. If you are not a MO2 user and use something like Vortex, you may need to adjust instructions accordingly to your appropriate setup. While I am not denying the use of other mod managers, MO2 is a widely recognizable mod manager, and is recommended amongst many advanced modders. If you would like to use MO2, please visit this page and download the latest version available.

It’s also assumed that you have all of the DLC installed, and the game runs properly.

All edits and updates to the guide can be found below, to help you find what needs to be changed.

Let’s begin the guide with a few things first, before we start delving in and downloading mods. Much of the mod list may not require that much work to be done on mods, other than installing a few compatibility patches and tweaking some configuration. However, that does not mean you can’t configure things to your liking, or add/fix anything you see fit, so by all means change and edit whatever you’d like.

While you progress through each step, launch and test your game to make sure there is nothing wrong, or there is no crash at startup. This will greatly help in zeroing in on which mod may cause a crash. You should also base your load order and plugin list in the order that you install these mods, so they should load from Step 1.0 to Step 21.0

ALSO! As you go through each mod installation, please take the time to endorse each one, as mod authors do not receive enough recognition for their work.

If you would like to use MO2, the preferred and recommended way of modding, follow this step below.

1.1 Re-Installing Fallout 4
First, let’s begin with a clean slate Fallout 4 installation, with nothing changed or added. To do so, this will require you to remove all of your current mods, game installation, game saves, INI files, etc.

To start, let’s delete the Fallout 4 game folder, located via steam > steamapps > common > Fallout 4. Once this has been done, reinstall your Fallout 4 game.

Next, we need to remove the My Games Fallout4 folder, located in your C:/ drive, which contains all of your Fallout 4 INI files, saves and so on. If you’re a MO2 user, make sure to visit your MO2 Profile, which you can do by clicking the Folder with the Green Arrow > Open Profile Folder and then select your fallout4 configuration files, and before you delete them close MO2, then delete them. MO2 will throw a fit if you do not, but just simply relaunch your games launcher, and MO2 will recognize it and replace them.

1.2 Installing Mod Organizer 2 [RQ]
Since this guide is going to be centralized around MO2, and if you choose to use MO2, follow this setup preparation to begin the modding guide.

Begin by heading over to the MO2 Github page and downloading the latest version available. Once you have downloaded the setup tool, run it, and follow the prompts as described.

Once it asks you to select a location of installation for your, locate it anywhere else except your C:/ Drive with your OS, if possible, preferably on an SSD. Do NOT install it in any ProgramFiles folder on your C:/ Drive either, as this is known to cause issues with mods running. On the next page, leave everything as it is, which should be Recommended Install. After you finished installing MO2, visit the Files tab and download the two Optional files, the MO2 Separators and Data files. This will help organize your modlist and prep your load order and plugin list with all of the mods in this guide.

I highly recommend creating a single folder for all your downloads, no matter the game so you can avoid downloading duplicates. You can simply do this by creating a new folder in your MO2 main directory called downloads, and redirecting the downloads path to their. To do this, open the settings in MO2 and click the Paths tab, then find the Downloads option and browse for the downloads folder you created.

Now run MO2 and it will ask you to create a new instance, select the Global Instance. Create a new folder in your MO2 installation folder called instances, this is where we will create our new instance.

On the next page after you name your instance, you will see a Location to choose from, click the Show Advanced Options in the bottom right. In the base directory, ensure it’s in the instance folder you created above. For the downloads, select the downloads folder you created above, and leave everything else as is.

It should now look a bit something like this:

After that, click Next and finish, and your new Instance will be created.

Let’s prepare a few tools that we will use later in the guide.

1.3 ArchiveInvalidation and Mod Preparation [RQ]
Since we’re going to be using a number of mods, most of them will require a few edits in MO2 to be set. To do so is rather simple, so let’s begin.

Locate and find your Fallout4Custom.ini file, which can be found where your Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini files are. In that file, manually type the following into it:

This will allow mods to be enabled throughout your Fallout 4.

MO2 USERS
To edit this, in your MO2 find the tool icon, and click INI Editor. A popup will show, and select the Fallout4Custom tab and copy and paste the code above into it.

1.4 FO4Edit [RQ]
This is a simple and advanced tool that will allow us to resolve conflicts and run scripts for our modlist that we will need later when we’re near finished. Let’s prepare this tool in order to be able to use it.

Begin by downloading the archive via the Nexus page and extract anywhere to your liking. We will also need to install Mator’s xEdit Patching Framework via the Nexus page. Don’t be alarmed that this is a Skyrim mod, this still applies to all games on xEdit. Simply download and install the main file, extract it to a location you will remember and then drag and drop the Edit Scripts folder into your FO4Edit main directory.

MO2 Users
Create an empty mod by clicking the Wrench and Screwdriver icon, and select Create empty mod then name it FO4Edit Output and place it at the bottom of your modlist.

To use this tool for your modlist, add the executable file via the two cog wheels at the top left of MO2, and click the blue plus with a dropdown arrow, then locate and find the FO4Edit.exe executable and set it as the Binary path. Next, check the Create files in mod instead of overwrite (*) button, and select the newly created FO4Edit Output mod you just create.

With a recently released mod by Luxor, a complete texture pack overhaul was provided that details a lot of the Fallout 4’s game textures and optimizes textures. While this is not required, and shouldn’t be for any user with less than 6GB of VRAM, it is a nice touch that can be added onto with other texture mods.

3.1 F4SE Modification [RQ] [MI]
Right, you reinstalled your FO4 and now need to proceed on into installing F4SE, a Fallout 4 modification to allow various uses for Fallout 4 modding.

Download the latest version via the Silverlock.org website. Once you have downloaded the F4SE archive, extract the contents to a location you will remember. Navigate to your Fallout 4 main directory, where Fallout4.exe is located, and drag and drop the Data folder, f4se_1_10_163.dll, f4se_steam_loader.dll, and f4se_loader.exe files into your main directory.

MO2 Users
After you installed F4SE, hit F5 on your keyboard while having MO2 open and there should be a F4SE Executable in the executables dropdown. If not, click the Two Cog Gears in the top left, then click the blue plus sign with a arrow pointing down, select Add from file, and in the right hand side where it says Binary, click the three dot box to the right and find your F4SE’s executable file in your games folder. An example will look like this, D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\f4se_loader.exe.

3.2 ENBSeries Graphical Modification [RQ][MI]
ENBSeries is a widely popular visual enhancement modification for a various amount of games, and specifically Fallout 4. With it in Fallout 4, you not only have visual enhancements, but also a chance of improving performance with new methods of graphical displaying, system managements and so on.

Because of this, we’ll be using it in our modlist. To begin, head over to the ENBSeries website and download the modification at the bottom by clicking the black download icon.

After you have downloaded the ENBSeries archive, extract the contents to a location you will remember. Open the newly extracted folder, as well as your Fallout 4’s main directory where Fallout4.exe is located, and drag and drop the d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll files into your main directory. We will not be using any other files, including the configuration files, because we will be installing a ENB Preset later on in the guide.

For the ENB preset used throughout this guide, I personally recommend Ghost ENB. Simply download and install the Ghost ENB for NAC X main file manually into your Fallout 4 main directory.

3.3 Address Library for F4SE Plugins [RQ][MI]
Address Library is a resource provided for many mods on the Nexus, and is near essential for any modlist.

Head to the Nexus page and download the Main File manually. Once it has been downloaded, extract the contents to a location you will remember. Within your Fallout 4 main directory, head to the Data folder and then drag and drop the F4SE folder in the Address Library folder you just archive into your Data folder.

3.4 xSE PluginPreloader F4 [RQ][MI]
xSE Plugin Preloader F4 is a resource for the F4SE modification that allows any F4SE plugin to initialize before the game begins running. This allows mods like Buffout 4 to load properly, as Buffout 4’s crash detection is a great example to how xSE Plugin Preloader F4 works.

Download the latest version via the Nexus page and extract the contents to a location you will remember. After you have extracted the contents, drag and drop IpHlpAPI.dll and xSE PluginPreloader.xml directly into your Fallout 4’s main directory, NOT THE DATA FOLDER.

It should look a bit something like this now:

If you have a mod that uses the same DLL as the preloader, you can rename the DLL from your mod and set
its new name here. Empty by default. For example, the preloader uses ‘IpHlpAPI.dll’ and your mod uses
the same DLL. Rename the DLL from your mod to something else like ‘IpHlpAPI MyMod.dll’ and the option to:

Description:
Loads plugins inside ‘DLLMain’ of the preloader DLL when it receives ‘DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH’ notification.
In other words, right after the host process starts. Executing certain kinds of code inside ‘DLLMain’ is
risky (see: https://docs.microsoft.com/ru-ru/windows/win32/dlls/dynamic-link-library-best-practices#general-best-practices)
so this method may fail in some cases.

Remarks:
The preloader calls ‘DisableThreadLibraryCalls’ when it’s done interfacing with ‘DLLMain’ thread notifications.

3.5 Buffout 4 [RQ][MI]
Buffout 4 is a great complimentary resource for all modlists out there, and allows a plethora of fixes to the games engine, as well as provides detailed crash logging before your game even launches, which helps you detect and resolve any possible issues in your modlist.

This one is a bit of a installation, so bear with me. Buffout 4 requires a few Libraries from Microsoft in order to run. Begin with downloading the Visual Studio C++ Redistributables 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022 X86 and X64 files and run the setup. Now download the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ Redistributables 2012 Update 4 vcredist_x64.exe file and run the setup. After that, install the DirectX End-User Runtimes June 2010 file and run the setup. Once this is all done, restart your PC to verify the installations.

Now we can install the actual part of Buffout 4, which can be found on the Nexus page. Download and install the two main files and extract to a location that you will remember. Once you have extracted the contents of the files, navigate to the Buffout 4 archive you just extracted, and drag and drop the contents to the Data folder of your Fallout 4 main directory. Now, navigate to the TBB Redistributables folder you just extracted, and drag all the contents inside that folder into the main directory of your Fallout 4 folder, where the Fallout4.exe file is located.

In the Buffout4.toml file, find and edit line 33 where it says F4EE = false to F4EE = true. It should look something like this:

3.6 High FPS Physics Fix [RQ][MI]
This is a near essential mod for anyone looking to run more than 60 FPS or wish for better control over their games display.

Download the main file via the Nexus page and extract the contents to a location where you will remember. Once extracted, drag and drop the Data folder into your Fallout 4’s main directory, where your Fallout4.exe file is located.

Create a new text file, and rename it to HighFPSPhysicsFix_custom.ini and then copy and paste the below into the newly created file.

3.7 Fallout Priority [RQ][MI]
This mod is pretty self-explanatory, it automatically set’s your Fallout’s executable priority to whatever desired priority you choose in config.

Installation is pretty straight-forward, download the main file via the Nexus page and drag and drop the Data folder into your Fallout 4’s main directory, where your Fallout4.exe is located.

3.8 Mod Configuration Menu [RQ][MI]
Pretty popular, you should know what this is by now, however if you don’t it’s a simple tool that allows you to configure supported mods in-game using a newly added configuration menu.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted, drag and drop the Data folder to the Fallout 4 main directory, where Fallout4.exe is located.

4 .1 Weapon Debris Crash Fix [MI][OP]
This mod fixes the crashing for RTX Cards when a bunch of debris decals are created from weapon gunshots. This is near essential for users with an RTX Card and don’t have NVFLEX disabled

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted, drag and drop the Data folder to the Fallout 4 main directory, where Fallout4.exe is located.

4.2 Sprint Stuttering Fix [MI][RQ]
Pretty self-explanatory, this mod fixes the stuttering that can occur when sprinting.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted, drag and drop the Data folder to the Fallout 4 main directory, where Fallout4.exe is located.

4.3 Crafting Highlight Fix [MI][OP]
One of my favorite UI mods for workbenches and crafting stations, this removes the annoying glow on items highlighted when using a workbench.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted, drag and drop the Data folder to the Fallout 4 main directory, where Fallout4.exe is located.

4.4 CCCleaner [MI][OP]
Simply and basic, removes the Creation Club button, as well as the annoying message popups in the top right.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted drag and drop the contents into the Data folder.

4.5 Console Commands Extender [MI][OP]
Edits and adds new commands to the console in-game.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Once extracted drag and drop the contents into the Data folder.

4.6 Encounter Zone Recalculation [MM][RQ]
This allows encounter zones to be recalculated and rebalanced to the players level upon re-entry.

4.7 Classic Holstered Weapons System [MM][OP]
One of the best visually appealing and immersive mods by far, which reintroduces the classic holstering system from the previous Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas game into Fallout 4.

This mod has a tendency to cause crashes with modded weapons, and you may need to do more research to create compatibility for the mod.

4.8 Better Console [MM][RQ]
A simple but very useful resource for console fanatics, which gives more detailed information for selected objects.

4.9 Unlimited Survival Mode [MM][OP]
Pretty self-explanatory, allows you to constantly switch between Survival Mode and other difficulties, as well as adding some configurable options via MCM menu and some other changes.

4.10 Whose Quest Is It Anyway [MI][RQ]
This mod is a great mod for finding specifically which quest an item goes to when you try to remove it from your inventory, and gives a formative ID to the related quest.

4.11 Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch [RQ]
Everyone knows what this is by now, and it’s pretty self-explanatory. The mod patches a various amount of bugs in the game.

4.12 HUDFramework [RQ]
Adds a framework for many other mods to add and utilize custom HUD elements.

4.13 Workshop Framework [RQ]
Improves and expands upon the existing workshop system in-game, to allow more stable usage of settlement construction, as well as additional features for easier settlement building.

4.14 Extended Dialogue Interface [RQ]
Reintroduces the classic Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas dialogue selector that showed the entire text, and removes the annoying 1 worded responses.

4.15 Canary Save File Monitor [RQ]
Provides a monitoring system for save files incase if something corrupted in your save file happens, allowing you to revert to a previous save rather than creating a new playthrough.

4.16 Settlement Menu Manager [RQ]
This mod allows custom workshop mods that introduce new menus for their items to be easily added, removed and managed without having to worry about conflict and bugs in the menu.

4.17 RAW INPUT [RQ]
Removes the annoying and clunky mouse movement in-game that you can notice while playing, and allows for total raw input from your mouse.

4.18 Bullet Counted Reload System [RQ]
Pretty simple and self-explanatory, this mod provides a fractal bullet count reload system that reloads the number of bullets based on how many you shot.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, then download the BCR- Lever Action Rifle v1.02 optional file, and overwrite the main file.

4.19 Immersive Animation Framework [RQ]
One of my favorite mods, provides immersive animations to all non-animated ingestible items in the game, with a framework for other mods to enable custom animation use on items.

Download the main file via the Nexus page, then install the Update file located in the Main Files.

4.20 PrivateProfileRedirector F4 [RQ]
This resources allows the game to have a significantly faster bootup time by storing INI files in the memory rather than reopening them upon each launch of the game.

5.1 Ultimate Colored Vault Boy Animations Overhaul [OP]
This one is simple, but really neat for additional interface overhauls for the Pipboy and UI.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

5.2 Photo Mode [OP]
Introduces the photo mode from Fallout 76 into Fallout 4, allowing more control over how you can take pictures in Fallout 4.

5.3 QuickTrade Redux [OP]
Allows you to quickly enter the trade or inventory menu on any NPC, by using a specified keybind.

5.4 DEF_UI Iconlibs Rescaled and Fixed [RQ]
For later use with a sorting mod in this guide, but gives the icon libraries a uplift and fixes a lot of mistakes made in them.

Download and install the Colored main file via the Nexus page.

5.5 Ruddy88’s Simple Sorter [RQ]
A simple script that we will be using later in the guide for our sorting tags.

Download and install the R88SimpleSorter_INNR optional file via the Nexus page.

5.6 FallUI Series [OP]
This is by far the best UI mod series out there, and offers a lot of customization when it comes to choosing your preferred UI style. Because of this, we will use the whole series within the modlist, to offer the best experience for a UI Overhaul.

First, we will need to install the tool to create a sorted patch. Download the Complex Item Sorter tool via the Nexus page, extract to a location you will remember, and then drag and drop the contents into your FO4Edit’s main directory.

Within your Fallout4Prefs.ini file, edit the following values:

This will allow the values and stats of items in your inventory to correctly display without any glitches.

5.7 LooksMenu [RQ]
This is a great tool for more advanced character customization, and allows you to save presets. It’s a near essential mod in my book.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page. If you’re using a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, select the LooksMenu v1-6-20 21-9 main file.

As for now, this section is redundant as there are currently no mods for it. So you may skip it, but there may be updates in the future.

7.1 Eli’s Armour Compendium [OP]
One of the best armor mods out there, which adds a bunch of various outfits and varied outfit types, not only into the game but also has Leveled List implementation, which can be found on a lot of NPCs.

Download and install the Vanilla Body main file via the Nexus page.

7.2 Backpacks of the Commonwealth [OP]
Another great mod, which adds functional backpacks to Fallout 4 that increase your carrying capacity as well as add additional bonuses to you, depending on your backpack.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

7.3 Gunner Outfit Pack [OP]
By far the coolest Gunner outfit mod I’ve seen, which adds a bunch of neat and immersive outfits to the gunners, giving them more of a militaristic feel than some scavenging group of self-declared «Military operatives».

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, as well as the Gunner Heavy Outfits 1stperson fix optional file. Then download and install the NPC Leveled List integration mod via the Nexus page, and overwrite when asked.

7.4 T51c Air Force Power Armor [OP]
Introduces a new and unique Power Armor set into the Wasteland, bringing the Air Force into the game implementing a T51c set of Power Armor.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

7.4 T65 Power Armor [OP]
Brings in the Secret Service Power Armor to the Commonwealth, by introducing it in the Leveled List at a end-game level.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

7.5 Ultracite Power Armor [OP]
Implements the Ultracite Power Armor into the Commonwealth in a non-obtrusive way by implementing Ultracite crystals in the Glowing Sea, keeping it lore friendly.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, then install the additional Ultracite Power Armor Fix main file and overwrite when asked.

7.6 Vault-Tec Power Armor [OP]
Offers a new set of Power Armor based off of the Vault-Tec corporation, because why would they not have their own set of Power Armor and use T-45?

7.7 Enclave X-02 Power Armor [OP]
Reintroduces the classic X-02 Power Armor we all know and love from Fallout 3, in a new and lore-friendly way.

7.8 Hellfire X-03 Power Armor [OP]
Brings the amazing Hellfire Power Armor from Fallout 3 into the Wasteland in a lore-friendly manner by using a quest, and a new location.

7.9 Institute Power Armor [OP]
A Power Armor built from the original concept from Bethesda for the Institute, because why wouldn’t they also have Power Armor if their Gen 3 synths are androids?

8.1 Tactical Flashlights [OP]
A neat and little fun mod that enhances the immersion of dark atmospheres while exploring the wasteland.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page. During FOMOD installation, select the Vanilla Main option and DO NOT select the AWKCR + AE option, as this will lead to crashes. Select whichever optional choices in 1st Person and 3rd Person you would like, I personally recommend the Right Offset and the Alternate Animations. On the next page, in Distance, choose whichever option you would like, I personally recommend 100% without the shadows.

8.2 See Through Scopes [OP]
This mod is a great addition to any mods that use variable scopes, as well as ACOG sites as it provides a less intrusive and more viewable scope rather than a overlaid reticle that is just zoomed in.

8.3 Select Rapid Machinegun [OP]
A great mod by Neeher, that adds a immersive gun to the game with Leveled List integration, and a wide variety of customizability.

8.4 Select Marksman Rifle [OP]

8.5 Heavy Select Shotgun [OP]

Download and install the ESL main file version via the Nexus page.

8.6 Service Rifle [OP]

8.7 Bullpup Bozar [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

8.8 Grease Gun SMG [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

8.9 DKS-501 Sniper Rifle [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

8.10 Hunting Shotgun [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page. Choose the 4K version if you desire.

8.11 HK G3 [OP]

8.12 Wattz Laser Gun [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

8.13 Anti-Material Rifle [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Google Drive page.

8.14 Riot Shotgun [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, then download WarDaddy’s Riot Shotgun Animations and overwrite the original mod.

MO2 USERS
You can simply download and install the animations from WD with the same name, and simply merge the two mods.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page. As of 10/11/2021, do not install the Update file, as it breaks the Bullet Counted Reload System implementation.

8.16 Mothman-Colt Rangemaster Classic Hunting Rifle [OP]

Download and install the Rangemaster (Simple English version) via the Nexus page. Download the Rangemaster Anims Fix (Simle English version) miscellaneous file as well, and overwrite.

8.17 IMI Galil Rifle [OP]

Download and install the 2K version via the Nexus page. Choose 4K if you’d like, and download the Optional Leveled List Patch.

8.18 Vault-Tec MPL [OP]

Download and install the Vault-Tec MPL main file via the Nexus page.

8.19 AnotherOne Laser RCW Reborn [OP]

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, then download the additional Update file and overwrite.

MO2 USERS
You can simply download and install the Update with the same name, and simply merge the two mods.

9.1 We are the Minutemen [OP]
This mod changes a good amount of things for the Faction The Minutemen, and will distribute Minutemen outfits to all Minutemen related soldiers.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

9.2 4estGimp’s Raider Overhaul [OP]
Overhauls the raider faction to be more raider-like and removes the AWKCR dependency, as well as updating and fix a lot of issues in the previous mod.

10.1 SKK Series [OP]
This is by far the best and most compatible mod series that will provide a quick start method to your game, if you so chose to skip ahead.

Download and install the following in this order, SKK Fast Start New Game, SKK Fast Start Location, and SKK Fast Start Minutemen. You do not need one for the other to work, and vice versa, you can install each individually and all will work fine.

10.2 Crafting Framework [OP]
This is by far the best crafting mod out there, which allows you to get an almost nearly similar crafting system like Fallout 76. While there is an upcoming mod, which recreates a lot of the Fallout 76 crafting mechanics in Fallout 4, this is a temporary solution until said mod is released.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, and download the Optional Workbench Patcher file. Extract the contents of the Workbench Patcher into a location you will remember, open up your FO4Edit folder, and drag and drop all the contents in the Workbench Patcher into your FO4Edit root folder. To run this, a detailed instructions list will be provided at the end of this guide.

After you have downloaded those, download Mator’s xEdit Patching Framework and extract the contents to a location you will remember. Then drag and drop the Edit Scripts folder from the archive you just extracted to your FO4Edit’s root directory.

10.3 Armor and Clothing Overhaul [OP]
This is a great alternative to AWKCR as AWKCR is known to cause a lot of trouble and conflicts, because of this, ACO is the best choice to use for greater armor and clothing customization, without adding a bunch of bloated and useless features. This is also completely standalone, and requires no other mods to function.

It should look something like this:

10.4 Game Configuration Menu [OP]
Allows a plethora of game configuration settings while in-game, for fast and versatile edits to your personal liking.

Download and install the main file via the Zzyxzz website, as well as the Automatron and Far Harbor files.

10.5 Survival Configuration Menu [OP]
Provides configuration options for the Survival difficulty mode.

Download and install the latest file via the Zzyxzz website.

10.6 Power Armor to the People [OP]
Dynamically introduces a plethora of Power Armor mods into the Wasteland on roaming NPCs and enemies which can be found in a completely immersive and lore-friendly manner by using Leveled Lists.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page. During FOMOD installation, on the Power Armor Sets selection, ensure that the following options are selected, T-51C, Enclave X-02, Hellfire X-03, Ultracite, Institute, Vault-Tec Power Armor, and under T-65 Power Armor, ensure ESL Version is selected. Then leave everything else default throughout the rest of the launcher.

10.7 Wasteland Ballistics [OP]
By far one of the best combat mods out there, and it’s rather simple with hardly and incompatibilities.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, as well as the _CreatureAttackBehavior and _CombatStyle optional files. You can choose any other optional files to your liking.

10.8 Wasteland Medic [OP]
Another great mod by the same author of Wasteland Ballistics, which provides custom ingestible items.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page.

10.9 Pack Attack NPC & Companion Edition [OP]
This is a great mod that alters the AI of many NPCs and Companions, and enhances them to be more realistic and dynamic.

Download and install the file via the GreslinGames Discord in the #releases channel for both mods.

10.10 Immersive Hunting Overhaul [OP]
A great mod to compliment the wilderness and animals of the Commonwealth, bringing a whole new challenge to gathering and collecting food for your survival.

10.11 Better Power Armor [OP]
By far one of the best Power Armor mods out there, as it entirely redoes how Power Armor works and truly makes you feel like a tank in a heavy suit of armor.

Download and install the main file and the Nuka World Extended patch via the Zzyxzz website. Once you have installed the mod, during the FOMOD, select the Extended version.

10.12 Complex Vendors [OP]
Makes vendors take specific types of items only, depending on their items they sell, just like the Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas vendor mechanics.

10.13 Automatically Lowered Weapons [OP]
Simple, and self-explanatory, it automatically lowers your weapon that you are holding to give a less intrusive view.

Balances a lot of the weapons in Fallout 4 to have better stats according to the type of gun it is.

16.2 Visible Galaxy 4K and Framework [OP]
A great mod for overhauling the night sky to allow you to see the milky way, with a framework provided for other mods.

16.3 Sunlight Alignment Tweak [OP]
This mod mades godrays even more exciting by enhancing the dawn and dusk settings.

16.4 Wasteland Illumination [OP]
Adds various street lights and lights around the Commonwealth, making it seem like it’s still powered, even after 200 years.

Enhances the Nuka Cola bottle textures and models by giving them a new look.

Improves the textures of water to better for ENBSeries.

This is a great collection of animations to overhaul a few vanilla weapons, as well as some of our installed weapon mods.

A great addition to anyone who loves the soundscape of the Fallout franchise, as it adds a bunch of new ambient wasteland audio and also includes new reverb affects which makes gunplay all the more interesting.

20.1 Universal Patch Installer [OP]
Provides a collection of patches for various mods that will be used throughout this mod list.

Not needed if you plan on installing the Merged Patch in Step 20.10.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, and let the FOMOD automatically select any mods you have installed.

20.2 Optimization Patches Collection [RQ]
A great collection of patches for well known mods amongst the community, which offers fixes, performance optimization and more.

Download and install the BCR-HuntingShotgun main file via the Nexus page.

20.4 Tales from the Commonwealth Visual Fixes [RQ]
Includes visual fixes for TFTC and also includes precombine data.

Download and install the main file via the Nexus page, and in the FOMOD installation, select the Visual Fixes version.

Download and install the following optional files via the Nexus page in this order, Ambient Wasteland and RAO Patch, and Atomic Radio RAO Patch.

21.1 Patching Crafting Framework and Other Mods [RQ]
Crafting Framework comes with a bunch of compatibility patching that you will need to do if you would like things to properly appear in the right workbench. This is pretty straightforward, and simple to use. To begin, download the Workbench Patcher in the optional files and extract the contents into your FO4Edit main directory.

Once you have installed the script, go to your MO2, and in the Modify Executables button, click the Plus button with the arrow and select Add from file. In the binary option to the right, click the 3 dot button, locate the contents you just extracted into your FO4Edit folder and select the CF_WorkbenchPatcher.bat file.

Now, run the file you just added, and it will come up with a command prompt, simply type Y and hit enter. It will then open FO4Edit and show your mod list, leave everything checked and click OK. After it has loaded everything, a popup will show and click New Patch. It will ask you to name the file, name it whatever and then run the script. Once it’s finished, close the program and enable the plugin at the bottom of your plugin list.

21.2 FO4Edit Merged Patching [RQ]
Creating a merged patch is the most crucial way of managing and resolving conflicts throughout your mod list, and this can easily be done by using a program called FO4Edit.

Since this would be completely based on your mod list, telling you what to resolve and overwrite other mods with is unpredictable and needs to be done on your own. So, to start finding conflicts, let’s begin by adding a Executable to our list in MO2. However, if you followed this mod guide exactly, or installed all mods listed, and only added additional mods, install the Merged Patch Main File via the File Tab.

ATTENTION!
If you did not follow the guide almost exactly, or removed a few mods follow the steps below to create a compatibility patch based on your mod list.

In your Modify Executables window, add a new executable and find the FO4Edit.exe file location and select that. Now, in the Arguments field, add the following: -veryquickshowconflicts

This will allow you to simply launch the executable you added and automatically show any conflicts in your mod list without having to open the program and wait, then apply a filter and wait even more.

For creating a merged patch, you’ll want to run the newly executable you created and let it load. Once it’s finished loading, find a conflict you would like to resolve, and right click the FormID and click Copy as override into. and a popup will show a Warning, click the green option. After that, a new popup will show and you will need to scroll to the bottom and select the .esp, esl flagged option, NOT the esl esm one.

Then it will ask you to name your file, just name it whatever as long as it’s not the same as another esp, preferably name it FO4Edit Merged Patch. After that, begin by copying all the conflicts you see fit over to the newly created merged patch esp you made.

21.3 FallUI Item Sorter Tagging [RQ]
Since we’re using FallUI Item Sorter, we’ll need to create a patch for tags and icons in our mod list. This will add simple icons to weapons, apparel items, ingestible and so on.

NOTE!
Everytime a new mod is installed/removed you need to recreate this patch in order to have proper tagging.

You’re ESPs should be listed as so:

Once you have sorted the esps in the correct order, download M8r98a4f2’s Complex Item Sorter tool, version 1.9, and extract the contents into the main directory of FO4Edit. Once you have done that, open FO4Edit via your mod manager and load all of your plugins. Once it’s finished loading, right click anywhere in the left pane and select Apply Script. In the script dropdown list, find and select M8r_ComplexSorter and then click OK. After the first time you run it, you can use CTRL + Y to instantly launch the tool.

With the tool opened, toggle the following Plugins, 4estGimp CIS Enhancements, Add Component Tags, Quest Tags, Radio Tags, and Valuable Tags. Then under Record Types, select the following record types, ACTI, ALCH, AMMO, ARMOR, BOOK, INNR, KEYM, LVLI, MESG, MISC, NOTE, QUST, WEAP:

Once you have all the settings and options matched, click Generate Patch and let it do it’s thing. Once it’s finished, you can simply exit the program.
