Scrap Clicker 2/Guide
This guide will help from the beginning of Scrap Clicker 2, over the unlock of things like the tireyard to x1000 stars, and even a bit further. It’s written and maintained by the wiki admin Schrottii, but anyone is welcome to fix errors and making it a bit better.
For the case you already played quite a bit of the game, you can directly jump to the Midgame part or Lategame part. The earlygame part includes the first ten stars, the midgame part until the tireyard is unlocked and the lategame part everything after that.
Contents
Part 1: Early game [ ]
1. The overlay [ ]
First, download the game, if you haven’t done this yet. Every time you start it, a loading screen appears for about a second, then the game starts. If you start it for the first time, you should see 5 rows with each 4 empty slots. Those 20 empty slots are for barrels. On the very top, there’s a green bar, going from left to right. Every time it’s full, a new barrel spawns, in your case the first barrel (Circle Blue). Right under that, there are two numbers and two icons: On the left your scrap (The main resource), on the right your magnets (An other resource). Both will allow you to purchase upgrades. Barrels produce Scrap and Magnets can be earned from Storms
On the bottom, there are 4 «sections». They are/do the following (from left to right):
The options tab is usually the least used one. The game usually uses the normal number format (which goes M, B, T. ), for the case you don’t like this one, you should change it there now. For more info, check out the Big Numbers article. This tab also includes a cloud save system and a file-based import/export system. The upgrade tab is pretty important, just like the Prestige tab, you should check them out pretty often. Until you unlock Barrel Mastery the barrel tab is not too useful.
This is your current overlay of the game. Later, a bit more stuff pops up.
The next thing you should do now is merging barrels. For example, the blue barrel can be merged with another blue barrel to become a pink one and this pink barrel can be merged with another pink one. It’s always like this, you’ll never be able to merge more than two barrels at once.
2. How to upgrade correctly [ ]
After just some minutes you should be able to purchase your first scrap upgrade, Faster Barrels. This one will make barrels spawn faster. If you read the name Faster Barrels somewhere, it’s usually related to the Ad Event and not the upgrade.
The order in which you should upgrade them:
You should level the magnet upgrades pretty much in their order, some Better Boost levels here and there. Magnets:
You should be able to max. out the magnet upgrades in a short time. The first three should be done at about 4 or 5 stars and the first five at 10. You don’t have to buy the last one until the different storm types, you might want to spend your magnets somewhere else.
3. Ad Events [ ]
You probably already reached the 10th barrel, if you played while reading this guide. Now, it becomes slower and slower. But once you merged 100 barrels, you unlock something great: The Ad Events! Those appear in the upper right corner (If they don’t for you, these three things could be the reason: 1. You didn’t merge 100 times yet 2. You have to restart your game (close and re-open) 3. You have the bug that no ads are available, in this case take a look at the «No Ads!» section of the Ad Events article). Those give powerful boosts.
Here’s the order of how efficient they are in this stage of the game:
All of them can help in this part of the game (except More Bricks, More Fragments and Faster Level Up since you don’t have those yet). Faster Barrels is the only Ad Event you have to «master» and one of the few parts in this game where skill is needed. While Auto Merge gives you 450 merges avg. with the needed scrap upgrades on max. level, Faster Barrels can give up to 6000 (More than 4000 is really difficult), where the average player can do 2k in 10 minutes. If you want to progress fast, learn how to merge fast at Faster Barrels. Else: Auto Merge or later Faster Level Ups. Following two videos could help you learning Faster barrels, but note that converting (removing a barrel) isn’t unlocked until Star upgrading is unlocked (Both are by the FB master CopyCantPaste):
Instead of watching an ad, you can also purchase Ad Tokens, depending on where you live. Later you unlock Change Tokens to make change Ad Events, for example from Auto Merge to Faster Barrels.
4. Prestige [ ]
You can get up to 10 stars in total (Only 10, there aren’t more), which unlock different things. A full list of when and what can be found at the Stars article.
5. Teams [ ]
When you got your first star, you unlock the Teams 3.0 system (Yes, there were Teams 1.0 and Teams 2.0 in the past). You can join a team or create one, once you reached x20 Stars (The x before the 20 will be explained later) at a cost of 10000 magnets. For now, you should join a team. Not a totally inactive one, but not one of the best teams.
When you reached 9 Stars, you unlock Team Leagues, which reward weekly magnets depending on how many merges the team did (Last reward is at 500k merges, so you may should join a team which can do 500k in a week). At x20 Stars, Team Challenges are unlocked, which give you Change Tokens (Change the effect of the ad you’ve got).
6. Scrapyard (v1/v2) [ ]
At 4 Stars, you unlock the Scrapyard (v1). You can spend scrap here to reduce your star costs by A LOT. It’s level will reset to 1 when gaining a new star and it will completely disappear when you got your tenth star. You unlock the Scrapyard (v2) at x12 Stars, which has a very similar effect.
7. GS Multis [ ]
At 5 Stars, right after the Scrapyard v1, you unlock the so called GS Multis (Multipliers). They’re simple, when you unlocked a certain barrel you get much more golden scrap. This will help A LOT to get the last few stars. It seems that it is the most effective until your tenth star to make runs which are about 5 minutes long from now on. The last one gives x1024 scrap (Barrel 97), you should start getting to there at about x15 Stars.
8. Star upgrading [ ]
Congratulations, once you unlocked Star Upgrading you hit the Midgame part!
Part 2: Midgame [ ]
1. Converting [ ]
Once you got to star upgrading and so the Midgame part, you can convert barrels! Doing this is simple, just double tap and confirm. Don’t worry about that nasty confirmation dialog, you can remove it later. By converting you get Fragments and space. The space is important for being able to get high merges and together with that magnets from speed merging. You should only convert the spawning barrel for fragments, and any you want for space.
2. Magnet-gain playstyles [ ]
3. Efficient GS gain [ ]
As usually, do runs with a length of about 5 minutes, prestige, repeat. You should be able to get to the last Multipliers soon. Before actually upgrading stars, you may go to 6 million Golden Scrap and don’t fall under that amount.
Rule of thumb for upgrading stars: get Failed to parse (MathML with SVG or PNG fallback (recommended for modern browsers and accessibility tools): Invalid response («Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.») from server «https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/»:): GS before upgrading a single star, or Failed to parse (syntax error): GS to upgrade all 10 stars (of same mult)
4. Scrapyard v2 [ ]
Once you upgraded 5 stars, you unlock the second scrapyard. Golden Scrap can be spent at the Scrapyard v2 to reduce the star costs (GS, Magnets and Fragments). Don’t think that you can keep your magnet costs at
20k, it will raise the whole time.
5. Bricks [ ]
At x15 Stars, Bricks are unlocked. They can be spent on several upgrades. Also, there are now two new Ad Events for you: Faster Level Up and More Bricks.
There are several ways to get bricks:
6. Brick upgrades [ ]
There are 7 brick upgrades (There’s a 8th one later, called «More Beams»). As the brick gain is easy to increase, there’s not really an order in which you should level them, but there are still better and worse ones. Here a list of them from worst to best:
7. Brick multipliers [ ]
Together with Bricks, the brick multipliers are also unlocked, which only have shown «. » before. They’re every 6 barrels after the GS ones and give some small brick production boost.
8. Team Challenges and Change Tokens [ ]
At x20 Stars, the Team Challenges are unlocked. The whole team completes challenges to earn points and up to 30 (45 later on) Change Tokens, which can be used to change the effect you get after watching an ad. If you’re (still) in an inactive team or a pretty empty team, you might should join a better one now, as Change Tokens can make the game more easier and more fun.
9. Tree Upgrades [ ]
Once you reached x40 Stars, one of the most powerful features is unlocked: The Tree Upgrades!
The important upgrades are the following 35:
Note that many of those will be explained in the following chapters.
10. Steel Beams [ ]
Steel Beams are one of the mighty Tree Upgrades. Once unlocked, they’ll fall every 60 seconds and can be collected. There are several upgrades which increase the beam gain, including the new brick upgrade unlocked at x85 Stars. They’re spent on several upgrades and from x75 Stars on also on the Scrapyard v3, which increases the magnet production. They also come with a new Team Challenge.
11. Mega Magnets [ ]
Mega Magnets are unlocked at x50 Stars. They appear every 500 merges and explode into 50 Magnets, which can be collected. There are many upgrades increasing the amount of magnets they’re worth. They also come with a new Team Challenge.
12. Team Map [ ]
At x50 stars, you will unlock the Team Map feature. You and all other team members can move a cute tiny brick car and collect several new currencies: Wood, Stone and Gold. Those can be spent for Team Tokens, which can be used to buy upgrades that make the Bank of Merges (Merge Buffer) more effective.
13. Wrenches [ ]
Wrenches are unlocked at x100 Stars. The amount of wrenches you get per merge increases every time you merge (If you have the x105 Stars upgrade). They can be spent on several Upgrades and at the Scrapyard v4 (x115 Stars) to increase the brick production by a little bit.
14. Tires [ ]
Tires are unlocked at x130 Stars. Just as Steel Beams, they fall every 60 seconds and can be spent on five upgrades:
While a normal magnet storm has 70/35 items (magnets), a tire storm has 20, a wrench storm has 100, a GS storm has 35 and a beam storm 20. The tire storms and beam storms are the best.
At x250 Stars, the Scrapyard v5 can be unlocked, where tires are spent to increase the level up speed.
15. Barrel Mastery [ ]
At x400 Stars, the Barrel Mastery can be unlocked. You’ll notice some white stars at the barrel list. By merging a barrel 250/1000/3000/6000/10000 times, you can increase it’s mastery level to 1/2/3/4/5. This gives 1/2/3/4/5 mastery tokens (Up to 15 / barrel). They can be spent on several upgrades.
16. Mega Tires [ ]
One of the upgrades that you’ll unlock after the Barrel Mastery are the Mega Tires. Those will spawn every 500 merges, just like Mega Magnets, but not replace them. Each Mega Tires contains 15 common tires, which will make your tire production and v5 level go crazy if you’re a speed merger.
17. Merge Boost [ ]
One of the upgrades that you’ll unlock after the Barrel Mastery is the Merge Boost. It will increase your magnet production (All sources, like v3) by 1% for every 100k total lifetime merges. multiplicatively. Meaning that the boost will automatically increase over time and doesn’t gets very small other than Mega Magnets or the passive magnet production are at this part of the game.
18. Other upgrades after Mastery [ ]
Part 3: Lategame [ ]
1. Lategame [ ]
After unlocking all tree upgrades, you have succeeded to the lategame. There isn’t much that you can do now, except climbing in the leaderboards, creating the best team ever or completing your Barrel Mastery. New updates come out very often, so it could be a good idea to be prepared for them.
Last released update was at 07/12/2021
2. Huge Star Costs [ ]
When progressing in stars, you will notice jumps in the star costs. From x1110 on, they’re massive. Here’s a short list of them:
They might seem too huge, but in reality they aren’t. Your scrapyards and Merge Boost should be able to keep you at a good fb/star rate. It won’t become really slow a few hundred stars later.
